Installation: University of Waikato - School of Psychology
Specifier: Antanas Procuta Architects Ltd
Product: Chenille Time Prohibition
The School of Psychology reception and offices at theUniversity of Waikato were housed in a gloomy, rectangular space with limited natural light.
Antanas Procuta (AP) were tasked with making the space attractive, functional and very importantly; welcoming!
Taking a holistic approach, AP quickly specified products that were light in colour and subtle in texture. The flooring however needed to be strong, hide soiling and add an element of bold thinking. Strength.
Interface carpet tile was chosen due to its unparalleled 20 year education warranty, excellent sustainability pedigree (including recycling from NZ) and bold celebration of being a carpet tile. Quarter-turning the pattern accentuated this carpet tile element and added strength of perception to the floor plate.
Congratulations to Geoff Lentz and Richard Mauriohooho who for this project, won the 2012 Waikato/BOP NZIA Small Project Award and the 2012 Resene Colour Award.
