Aoraki/Mount Cook (70,696 hectares) is New Zealand's great alpine park. It has the highest mountains and the largest glaciers. Aoraki/Mount Cook Village and all visitors to the park are dwarfed by the immensity of the landscape that surrounds them.
In building the visitors centre, a look and feel that adopted the stunning vista was an absolute necessity. Concurrently the feel of being in the mountains had to emanate when inside the building. And being in the mountains means being and feeling alive. Vibrant, energy and living were key requirements of the fitout. Interface carpet tile was chosen for many reasons. Its sustainability credentials ensured that it met key requirements of the protecting our wonderful country and landscape. However, Blueprint to add that cool mountain feel coupled with the strong solid foundations colours that added energy, mirrored the surrounding opaque lakes and provided colour to entice people to the various displays was simply a winning combination.
Add to this the 15 year wear warranty for such a high traffic area and Interface carpet tile was an easy choice. The centre looks and is fantastic.
