The retirement village nestled in west Auckland has undergone a beautiful transformation, enhancing its communal spaces to reflect its core values of creating a warm and engaging environment for its residents. With the use of Third Space 301 50cm x 50cm carpet tiles in the colour brown, alongside a custom colour of Undulating water 25cm x 1m planks, from the Upon Common Ground collection by Interface, the care home now offers spaces equally suited for activity and relaxation.
In the living areas, the custom colour of Undulating Water has been carefully integrated to create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Inspired by waterway textures, sand patterns, and the layering effects of ripples in shallow and deep water, this range brings a distinctive and calming presence to the space.
Meanwhile, the entertainment lounge and other shared social areas feature Third Space 301 in colour Brown. This collection is designed to support the dynamic ambience of spaces where people gather, connect and recharge. The warm, earthy tone adds an inviting richness to the environment, complementing its purpose as a central hub for movie nights, group events and causal interaction.
The selection of these particular tiles was influenced by their ability to evoke a natural connection to the land. The brown tones and textured finishes were interpreted as an impression of earth and clay, elements that are both familiar and deeply rooted in the history of earthenware in West Auckland. This subtle nod to local heritage adds a meaningful layer to the design, anchoring the space in a sense of place and belonging.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the flooring selection addresses the practical needs of a senior living home. Both products offer excellent underfoot comfort, superior acoustic performance and easy maintenance. All essential features in spaces where residents come together to relax, engage and foster a sense of community.
