On the 1st May, some of the Inzide team attended the opening night of the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival. The festival runs for a month and a half across
New Zealand, with 15 cinemas participating. This year Inzide are proud to be sponsoring the Masters of Architecture films within the festival, comprised of international and local films.
The opening evening offered a great opportunity to reconnect with peers and be part of a community that genuinely values thoughtful, well considered design. We were there to watch The Chodge, a captivating documentary that explores a lakeside architectural masterpiece designed by Darryl Church of DCA. Told through the lens of structure, landscape, and light, the film takes us on the thoughtful and inspiring journey of bringing The Chodge to life.
Drawing on the vernacular of rural woolsheds, The Chodge (short for Church / Lodge) is a holiday home that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, evoking that unique, relaxed feeling of being on holiday, deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

The design contrasts two key elements: a luminous, translucent outer shell inspired by woolsheds, and a warm, wooden inner volume that houses the living spaces, together forming a powerful architectural dialogue.
We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to immerse ourselves in such a remarkable New Zealand Architecture story of place, form, and intention and encourage others to attend.
