As part of Auckland Council’s seismic upgrading and renewals programme, Remuera Library, a cherished community hub, has undergone seismic strengthening and restoration to ensure this historically significant asset continues to serve Aucklanders for many years to come. First opened in 1926, Remuera Library is an iconic and much-loved building at the heart of the community. The restoration aims to preserve the library’s rich heritage and to provide an inspiring and functional space for future generations.

The World Woven, carpet tiles in colour, Dale Weave were selected for their sophisticated, textured appearance, which perfectly complements the library’s rich dark stained timber work. The flooring’s woven design brings a subtle yet dynamic element to the space, harmonising with the wood tones and creating a refined balance between warmth and modernity. The result is a beautifully cohesive design where the flooring enhances the architectural features rather than competing with them.

The transformation was instantly noticeable. As noted by the designer, the installation has made the library feel “warmer and lighter.” This shift in atmosphere is not only visually appealing but also improves the overall user experience within the library. The soft texture underfoot, thanks to the CushionBacRE backing of the carpet tiles, provides comfort and support, making it an ideal choice for a space where people linger to read, study, and enjoy.

Importantly, the uniformity of the carpet tiles was another standout quality. The librarians were particularly pleased with how the tile junctions are virtually invisible, ensuring a smooth, unified aesthetic throughout the library. The designer’s choice ensures that the flooring is practical, delivering durability for high traffic spaces, easy maintenance, and a soft, comfortable surface.

By thoughtfully selecting Interface carpet tiles from Inzide, the library has successfully updated its interior, blending modern design with comfort and functionality. The new flooring has significantly enhanced the experience for both library visitors and staff, ensuring that the space continues to serve as an inviting centre for the community for years to come.
