Blockhouse Bay Library

Libraries are continuously reinventing themselves from the keepers of the written word and knowledge through to a destination of choice of & for the community. Cafes are becoming part of the library, school holiday activity programmes are becoming larger and the actual décor and furniture/flooring are becoming very homely with a true residential feel.
The team at Auckland Council along with MAKE were keen that Blockhouse Bay should have a community facility that was a destination in its own right. And what a destination they created.
The flooring adopted lush pile product with colour and wayfinding. Utilising the Net Effect tile with the transition from froth to deep water adding a hint of energy and movement while the lush green from the urban retreat range provides an area of tranquillity while highlighting a different zone.
